Henry Averill, Psychotherapist

My name is Henry Averill, I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist. I work from my clinical rooms in central Exeter. I have an MSc in Psychological Therapies from University of Exeter. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MBACP), I am also a trainee member of the British Psychotherapy Foundation (BPF).

I am registered with the British association for counselling and psychotherapy (MBACP). I am also a student member of the British psychotherapy foundation (BPF).

About Me

I provide psychodynamic psychotherapy to people who have a range of emotional, psychological, interpersonal and mental health difficulties in the Exeter area. I am experienced in supporting people 1:1, in mental health, educational settings and pastoral capacities. I have worked in the NHS, Colleges, mental health charities and in private practice for more than 10 years.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

I initially gained QTS and a PGCE in 2014. I then started working in a 1:1 support role in 2018. Soon afterwards I began my training as a psychodynamic counsellor in 2020. Since then I have worked in the field of adult mental health in the NHS, mental health charities and in private practice for the last five years. I have an MSc in psychological therapies from university of Exeter. I have gained considerable experience of working with people suffering from a wide range of emotional, psychological and mental health difficulties.

ETHICS

I adhere to the standards of professional conduct and code of ethics set out by the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC). These provide principles and guidance which as a psychotherapist it is my responsibility to conform to. It has a comprehensive protocol for concerns to be raised by their complaints and disciplinary procedures.
